Instructional Practice
My instructional practice is rooted in inclusive pedagogy, universal design for learning (UDL), and student choice. Meeting each student where they are, I strive to create a supportive environment that values all voices. Through empathy and encouragement, I guide students to build on their existing knowledge. By integrating UDL principles, I design accessible and engaging learning experiences for all. Emphasizing student choice, I foster a dynamic classroom community where everyone learns and grows.
Writing and the Sciences
In this course, students engage with science-related writing on topics from astrophysics to neurobiology, practicing genres such as science journalism, rhetorical analysis, and research-supported arguments. The course was offered in various modalities, including HyFlex, remote asynchronous, and remote synchronous, using Canvas LMS and the Google suite for education.
Writing Across Contexts
Writing Across Contexts is an inquiry-based course where students tackle problem-solving through recursive writing processes like peer review. They hone skills in establishing credibility, interpreting texts, and responding to rhetorical situations, culminating in a final portfolio. Course sections used Blackboard LMS and Google suite for education, with three delivered in person.
